With the media recently declaring the death of dance music,
once again the Brazilian festival Skolbeats rears it’s head to
remind the world exactly what is so great about dance music.

Every year the Brazilian metropolis of Sao Paulo attracts the
biggest and best DJs and live dance acts to the centre of
dance music in Latin America for Skolbeats, a festival that is
as flamboyant, colourful and brilliant as everything else
coming out of Brazil!

Throughout the dance music world it is well known that there
is no better place to play than Brazil. The clubs, parties and
festivals are bursting with hordes of people that love the
music and the DJs with an intensity that few other countries
can match. As parties in Brazil go, there is nothing that can
compete with the sheer scale of Skolbeats. With over 50,000
people in attendance, 17 hours of partying and four arenas
including a live stage this is the biggest date in the Brazilian
cultural calendar.

Since the festival began in 2000, it has quickly developed a
reputation throughout the industry as one of the best parties
on the planet, however, it has gone largely unnoticed outside
of South America by the general public.
In 2005 this is all set to change with the addition of an
Essential Selection Arena which will broadcast for six hours
live across the world on BBC Radio 1.
